Photo Day #28

#28. "Money"

I kept a few Euros from my Italy trip in 2008, and I keep it so that I can make sure I get back to Europe! There are SO many places all over the world that I want to travel, but I would still LOVE to go back to Italy!

(old Italy posts here, here and here. These were quick emails home, made into blog posts so I pretty much sound like a jet-lagged valley girl with grammar and run-on sentence issues.  Just FYI.)

Photo Day #26

#26. "Night"

'Nother boring picture. Sunday night watching TV, with just my cozy, poorly "strung" rope lights a'blazin.

(Oh, and see my lovely newly hung curtains?! My mom and I "installed" them, drill and all, like pros last week. Thanks Mom!)

Photo Day #25

#25. "Green"

I spent a good part of my day at the Mesa Temple, and it was a GORGEOUS day today!  Over 80 degrees out, and the flowers at the temple smelled amazing.

This kind of green is a rare site to see in Arizona.  Grass is a commodity here, so it was almost weird to see so much of it in one place!

I am grateful for green grass, temples and beautiful sunny days!

#24. "Bathroom Cabinet"

What's there to say about a bathroom cabinet?
"Ta-dahhhh"

Photo Day #23

#23. "Shoes"

Newest addition to my closet!  And they're comfortable, which is monumental, considering I am a size 11 shoe, and usually have to settle for a 10.  Size 11 just doesn't exist in most places.  At most stores, when I ask for an 11 in a certain shoe, without fail they look at me like I just asked them if they could kiss it and turn it into a handsome prince.  That actually might be more likely than finding an 11 back there.

Photo Day #22

#22. "Where you work"

Obviously not my own pics, but pics from the School's website. (forgot to take a pic!)
This is the campus I work at in Coolidge.  It's about a 45 min commute on a little highway from Gilbert to Coolidge.  The building with the clock tower is where my office is, but I travel about 3-4 days a week to different sites.
(There are 10 campuses and centers, from 15 mins away, to 2 hours away. I put A LOT of miles on my car. booo.)
Its in the middle of nowhere folks. But I am grateful for the job, and grateful it brought me to Arizona!
My heart may always be in California,
but the longer I live here the more I think my roots will be here!

Photo Day #21

#21. "a fave photo of you"

One of my favorite photos because of the time in my life.  It was the summer after Senior year of H.S., probably the last time I really felt like a "carefree teen." You know that moment when it is your last hoorah as a "kid" and the moment you get home you realize, you have to start a real life.  I remember coming home after that trip and feeling so bummed because I had to think about college and being an adult and all my friends were leaving to go in different directions. Still, that trip to "The river" was one for the books!  Good times, good times.

Photo Day #19 and #20

#20. "Handwriting"

My sweet Aunt Alicia drew my name for Christmas and made this awesome chalkboard frame!  She always gives the best gifts.  My handwriting is lacking, I realize, I even had to re-write it because at first it looked like it said "Nome Sweet Nome."

#19 "Something you hate to do"

Cook/bake!  I don't hate it so much as IT hates ME!  I swear I can make disasters out of the SIMPLEST of recipes.  My Mom was here visiting for the weekend (YAY!!)  and we had so much fun, and she made Sunday dinner (delicious by the way) and I had one simple charge: to add water to the Angel Food cake mix, mix it, and bake it.  Yet I still make an overflowing, burning mess.  (My apartment still smells just awful.)  I wish I could love cooking and baking but you tend to hate what you just stink at.

Photo Day #18

#18. "Drink"

I suppose this picture would be more exciting if I drank alcohol, but since I don't here is my water in beer stein with my name on it! My friend/co-worker gave everyone a personalized beer stein at her wedding (how fun, huh!?) and gave special instructions to the waiters to fill mine with Diet Coke.  I was the only one at the wedding sipping soda through a straw.  :)

Don't you think any drink tastes better in fun glasses?

Photo Day #17

#17. "Time"

Something I failed to think about when putting 3 clocks on my wall was the "triple tick" I hear all day every day. "Duh," may be a word you had come to mind, but I didn't realize this until they were up.  There are times when I am sitting on my couch and I would swear on my life, that one of them is ticking louder and louder by the second.

But maybe that's just my biological clock. (ba-dum-ching!)

Photo Day #16

#16. "Something New"

I may or may not be blogging from my phone... While (not) interpreting.  Its a slow day.  Anyway the format of blogging from my phone may not be pretty, so I apologize. Heres hoping it works.

Photo Day #15

#15. "Phone"

I love my phone.  A lot.  (It has a kickstand!)  Phones are not just phones anymore.  I can watch stuff on netflix, or hulu or youtube in between jobs when I have an hour or 2 to kill.  This is also one reason I don't have cable.  You can watch pretty much everything on-line now, and I can stream it all onto my TV or phone without the cable bills. Yay!

Photo Day #14

#14. "Heart"

I was trying to think of  a creative way to photograph this, and thought maybe I could use the mirror to get a picture of just my eye through the heart or something.  Well that didn't work, because i was trying to use my camera phone and everything was blurry or weird.

And then.....
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
....by accident or magic...
.
.
.
.
...something happened that struck my funny bone....
.
.
.
.
.
.
 .
 .
 .
 .
 .
 .
 .
 .
.....and it made me laugh until all my makeup came off...
 .
 .
.....and I am still laughing.....
 .
 .
.
 .
 .
 .
 .
...this happened....
.
.
.
.
 .
(peek-a-boo)

I feel like i should send this out next year in card form and scare everyone I know, yes?

Photo Day #13

#13. "Blue"

It was such a beautiful day today!  I can't say enough how much I don't miss winter.  Arizona just pretends like it doesn't exist, and I'm ok with that.

Photo Day #12

#12. "Closet"

Right as I got into bed, I realized I forgot this...so I was gonna clean and organize my closet so you (whoever "you" is) would think I was amazingly color coordinated and organized, but instead you get a closet of disarray.  Yes that is a pile of clothes on the floor that I've been needing to do something (anything) with for a little while now. On to the next day...

Photo Day #11

#11. "Makes me happy."

My delicious Autumn Apple Salad from a vegetarian/vegan/raw restaurant called Pomegranate.

What makes me happy is new friends, a new yummy restaurant, camelized walnuts, surprisingly pink and delicious sprouts, and a waayyy better day than yesterday.

Photo Day #10

#10.  "Self Portrait"

Yeahhh, I had a pretty crappy day today.  After being verge of tears for the a good part of the work day, a huge comatose nap and a work out, then a run to Wal-Mart, this is the most presentable part of me.  Trust me you wouldn't have wanted to see anything else.
My Friday nights are w.i.l.d.

Photo Day #9

 #9. "Front Door"

Both views of the front door.

You know how two "wrongs" make a "right?"  Well it's the same with boring.  Two "borings" make an "interesting." Its science.

Photo Day #8

#8. "Sun"

The sun in the morning on my drive to work.

I've never noticed sunrises and sunsets as much as I have here in Arizona.  They are beautiful here. So many gorgeous pink and amber sunsets too. It literally stops me in my tracks all the time.  I love Arizona!

Photo Day #7

#7. "Button"

"Button button who's got the button?"  That was my brother and I's favorite game for family night growing up!  As I've grown older it means a different thing though.  I save EVERY button that comes attached to my dresses/blouses/coats/you-name-it.  Why?  Because, what if!?  WHat if I need it when one pops off and gets lost?  I probably have acutally used 1 or 2 I have ever saved, because inevitably the one I need is the one I can't find anywhere.  Of course I don't save them in all the same place, they are all over my apartment and I have to go on a button hunt.  Not as fun as when I was a kid.

Photo Day #6

#6. "Dinner"

Do you see dinner in here?

'Cause I don't.

However... I was grateful for it when I had nothing else to eat for dinner.  Mondays are my long days, I work from 8am-9pm because I teach at night, and only have a little break in between. I didn't bring food today, and didn't have time to run and get something since the college (oddly enough) is 20 minutes away from any food or civilization. Soo...

Banana!

Photo Day #5

#5. "10 am"

(OK so i realize I totally missed yesterday. oops.  I repent.)

I love weekends, when I get ready at 10am instead of 6:30 am!  Yay!  And now boo :( because tomorrow is a 6:30am kind of day. Here's to a good week though!

Photo Day #3

#3. "Hands"

Because I interpret during the week, I paint my nails on the weekend.  I think I do it more because I can than anything. Since I am limited in my dress and "expression of self" I probably over compensate partly with nail polish, and partially with very high heels on Sundays.

{how many of you noticed a poorly formed "E" before you noticed the nail polish?}

Photo day #2

#2. "Words"

I don't like having to buy things like this, because of what it means.  Someone very close to me lost someone very close to them today, and words never seem to express what I really want to say.  The english language is too limited in this case, I have never been able to find the right combination of written words, spoken words or enough hugs.

I am just so grateful for the knowledge I have of eternal families, and opportunities to be reminded that we need to love those we are with and embrace all the good and wonderful things life has to offer because it goes by quickly.

Photo day #1

"my {unfortunate} view today"

I was at my desk for most of the day today.

Which is unfortunate because its not interpreting. You know, my chosen profession.

{this may or may not be one of the reasons I came home from work and walked straight to my bed and passed out for a solid 2 hours}
Lately I have been doing a LOT of giving accommodations to students with disabilities and the like.  That is the other part of my job that I took on when I accepted the position here.  My co-worker who is the Disability Coordinator and the other 1/2 of the Disability Student Services department, has taken a sabbatical for a few months to finish her dissertation, so guess who is the ENTIRE Disability Student Services department for the semester?!  Yup... "moi."  Plus she and I have become good friends and now I am a lone wolf. : (

More on that later. But for now, this is my view for more of the day than I would prefer.
